Goal: Making a strong livelihood framework around the country especially in the distressed zone for developing the country by ensuring the mass people’s participation.

Objectives: Main objectives are rapidly rebuilding the livelihood sector with relation to the dignity and foods security of the worst-affected & distressed poor people reducing the poverty. We want to uplift their lives by ensuring food & social security.

Target Beneficiary:  They are our basic target beneficiaries who already faced a crucial life threatening phenomenon and now leading an unsecured & undignified life.

Activity:  As Oxfam GB, GIZ, UNIDO, Maxwell Stamp UK / Action AID Bangladesh, CARE Bangladesh, Action Aid UK, European Union (EU), Muslim Aid UK etc have been with us since 2005 in this endeavor so we specified our tools & mechanism to uplift the distressed people’s lives by taking enormous pragmatic projects as stated as below in details.

Our prime motto is to deliver this massage to all over the target beneficiaries that you’re not alone, Agrajattra with you to promote your current distressed lives and we aggregate all the stakeholders in this context to redecorate their dreams so that they may be capable to taste the flavor of life as a human being & lead a dignified lives all the way.

  1. Technical Skills development Programme : It is a self-funded project and has been working in the Chittagong City Corporation, Anowara, Bashikhalli, Potiya and Cox’s Bazar areas for since 2000. Main goal of the project is to improve skills of the literate but unemployed youths by giving hands on skill improvement training on various trades so that they can manage jobs that would help make them self-reliant.

B.     Women Development Project:-

Since inception in 1998, Women Development Programme (WDP) has been implementing with the aim of empowering underprivileged slums women in Chittagong  City Corp, Anowara, Bashkhalli, Mirsarai, Fatikchodi Upazila through developing skills such as sewing, embroidery, handicraft, block – batik and employment assistance. Different trades are being taught for urban & rural slums’ destitute women to enhance their skills. Free machineries and equipments are being enabling them to earn money to reduce poverty and empower them in their respective family. Manager of the programme is women and more than 90% staffs are female. So, they are easily working for women welfare.
Extreme poor especially the urban & Rural slum destitute, underprivileged like widows, orphans, divorced women, tortured women by husbands have been considered as the beneficiaries of the project. The project is supported by Muslim Aid, Agrajattra Own fund & UNICEF.

  1. Income Generate & Livelihood programme : It is a self funded project and has been working in the Chittagong city corporation, Anowara, Patiya and Bashkhali. Agrajattra trained the people (House wife/Student) to develop their skills improvement project included Block Batik, Showpiece, Knitting and Sewing etc.

 

Agrajattra started on since 1999 to till day on going. Agrajattra trains the illiterate and unemployed people on various trades and develop them as a skilled home based workers for preparing export items such as Pompom, Crochet Flowers, Tassel etc. Agrajattra forms groups and each group consists of 20 to 30 members. Each group having team leaders (supervisor), Agrajattra has developed about Appo. 6000 persons home based workers in different areas of Chittagong city, Anowar, bashkhali, Mirsarai and Cox’s Bazar districts. The main customers of those product are RMG factories, Buying House as well as Buyer. The team leaders collect work orders from Agrajattra and the leaders distribute the works among home-based workers. In this way, A large qty of unemployed people basically Women engaged with export oriented activities. They are participated in Export via Agrajattra & RMG industries, earning foreign currency also saving huge foreign currency.

 

Agrajattra is serving the unemployed people and creating scope to earn their livelihood. As a result, the unemployed/Unskilled people become skilled by the help of Agrajattra. Now they are able to develop the country by using their skilled hands. They are helping earn foreign currency. Agrajattra operating 40 slums based group in Chittagong City, Anowara, Bashkhali, Ramu, Mirsarai upazila since 2000. That group leader all are women as supervisor.

Disaster Preparedness for Sustainable Livelihood (DPSL) : –

Major Program Focus :-  To make financially self-reliant of the poor in the disaster prone areas of Cox’s Bazar. To equip the people of the disaster-prone areas with providing trainings to face the natural disaster

Objectives Results of the action
To make financially self-reliant of the poor in the disaster prone areas of Cox’s Bazar. To equip the people of the disaster-prone areas with providing trainings to face the natural disaster. Following method need to be adopted to fulfill the aims of the project.

Ø To form association of the poor in the affected areas for better out and protection of disasters,

Ø To impart new tech of agri cultivation.

Ø To preserve the sign of climate change affects,

Ø To impart lessons to the poor women and men in the areas about the effects of climate change through setting up association or committee.

Ø To launch tech education for the women workers in agri field for alternative employment.

Holding of rallies and fair of agro products in a specific place to aware the community people and to encourage for social revolution to save the green belt in coastal areas.

v  1600 numbers of total beneficiaries and their family member & neighbors about 4000 were aware about the impact of climate change and preparedness and rescue the victims during such natural disaster

v  Coastal people now awarded about the affect of climate change through experiencing high sea tide and unexpected tidal surge.

v  People able to rescue the disaster affected persons through using rescue equipments.

v  Skilled volunteers build up in locality through training by the committee members. Now more than 220 volunteers are more capable for rescue operations and fully awarded how to rescue.

Network established in each ward through forming of VDMC, WDMC. And people can communicate UDMC, UzDMC during emergency.

·         A large no. Of RMG industries will get their supporting products different types of flowers, tassel, crochet flowers, handmade products, hand embroidery etc from locally with very low price which will save huge amount of foreign currency, lead time & increase the export volume.

·         Continuous improvement of socio–economic condition of local vulnerable families through livelihood development.

·         To raise awareness for protect and combat the spread of “Yaba Addiction” & “Control Tobacco cultivation” in Cox’sbazar area.

·         Reduce vulnerability of local people during cyclone/disaster through DRR   knowledge (Disaster Preparedness, Pre & Post measures) etc.

·         To introduce a Brand shop in Cox’sbazar hotel motel zone to sell their products.

·         The unemployed/Unskilled people become skilled by the technical skill training from Agrajattra. They will be able to develop the country by using their skilled hands. They will help to earn foreign currency to supply the different types of products as well as to develop local products which can be sold in tourist zone of cox’sbazar area.

Results of the action

·      Appox. 400 Unemployed Youths mainly women are trained on technical skill development in the project area.  Indirectly appxo. 2000 people will benefit from the project.

·      Appox. 96 trainees/beneficiaries will be trained as Young entrepreneurs/Business start up Training Etc.

·      An association consist of members from the trainees will be formed who can supply different types (Handmade embroidery, Flowers, trims) of products to RMG industries as sub contract basis.

·      A large no. Of RMG industries will get their supporting products different types of flowers, tassel, crochet flowers, handmade products, hand embroidery etc from locally with very low price which will save huge amount of foreign currency, lead time & increase the export volume.

Approx. 100 women will be trained on Energy based improved cook stoves during the project period that will help them to start up renewable energy based business enterprise.

  • Child Development Centers (CDCs) :- Under Poverty Eradication Program (PEP), the organization is operating 36 Child Development Centers (CDCs), which provide the first two years of primary education and nutrition for 30 children’s of the poor in each school.

Objectives of the Poverty Eradication Program (PEP) :

 

v  The 1st objective of PEP is to work with each local community to reduce hard core poverty from within the community.

v  Provision of economic assets is the main vehicle for assisting hard core poor families.

v  Awareness raising and social protection are seen as vital objectives to ensure that the economic progress of the poor is not offset by emergencies and shocks. Likewise, the curtailing of children’s education must not mortgage their future.

v  Another integral objective is to link poor communities to services of local governments, other NGOs and non-poor persons, especially professionals in their locality to ensure long-term and more sustainable development.

v  PEP works to organize donors’ assistance for the poor communities.

v  Finally, the over-arching goal is to help ultra poor family and communities to achieve self-reliance.

Resettlement support of home & Landless to ultra-poor :- Under Poverty Eradication Program (PEP), it has been providing shelter home for extreme poor landless families of the project areas ; There are 120 Families from different areas whose were land & homeless & extreme poor supported with shelter home as well as income generate support (Fisheries Farm, Cattle, Goats etc).
